Disability Coalition: Legislative Preview 2025

This message is from Ellen Pinnes and The Disability Coalition.

The New Mexico Legislature will convene for its 2025 regular session at noon on Tuesday, January 21.  There will be a bumper crop of newly elected legislators and plenty of money to work with, as state revenues continue to increase.  Bills are already being pre-filed so they’ll be queued up for introduction as soon as possible once the session begins.  And the governor surprised everyone by releasing her recommendation for the Fiscal Year 2026 budget in December, before the holidays; the Legislative Finance Committee will be releasing its recommended budget any day now.

The Disability Coalition’s legislative preview is attached, providing highlights of the Executive budget and information on pre-filed bills of interest to the disability community.  Keep an eye out for weekly reports as the session progresses.
